On Weekends… children and parents at the Museum
Summer is just around the corner and in the last workshop of the year, we will play with water and the soap bubbles and we will create summer mobile. We will sing and jump as high as we can and we will make artworks inspired by the Tinga Tinga technique that originated in Kenya and Tanzania. Finally, we will create textured paintings and boxes with our own fantastic landscapes as well.
Let’s celebrate!
The weekend educational programs are implemented with the support of Eurolife FFH, Strategic Partner of the Museum of Cycladic Art and Raycap, Supporter of the Educational Programs of the Museum of Cycladic Art.

Summer is just around the corner and there is no greater pleasure than playing with water. In the last workshop of the year, it is time for soap bubble games. Children blow bubbles, watch them go up in the air and then burst them, in a game that can last for hours on end. And after we’re done with this game, we’ll go for a walk on the “beach” to collect seashells and sticks. Seashells both big and small, round and long, wide and narrow. We pick them up, paint them any color we want and finally turn them into a summer mobile to hang in our room.
And, of course, the year concludes with a big… water party!
Join us in this cool and refreshing experience!
- PS. Both parents and children need to wear casual and comfy clothes and be ready to get messy, as we will definitely get messy!

The last workshop of the year will conclude with a celebration! We will mount our elephants and ride across deserts and jungles to the tribal lands of the Maasai. There, we will take part in an initiation ceremony and dance the Adumu dance, aka the “jumping dance.” We’ll pick up our sticks, sing and jump as high as we can. And after we’re fully energized, we’ll find boards and paint and create artworks inspired by the Tinga Tinga technique that originated in Kenya and Tanzania. Crocodiles and elephants, tigers and lions, monkeys and rhinos will emerge from the children’s creations.
At the end, the children will exhibit their works for the parents, and together we will all do the “jumping dance.”

Charles McGee's artwork expresses each personality through a pattern, with all patterns interlaced and coexisting harmoniously to create textured paintings. In this workshop, we will reflect on our relationships with others and create our own textured painting of 'peaceful coexistence'.

Artist Joseph Cornell creates microcosms that fit inside boxes, using ready-made objects. His work invites the viewer to imagine the story behind the objects, like solving a puzzle. Let’s explore his work and the assemblage technique and create our own fantastic landscapes inspired by our imagination or our dreams. Will they fit in a box?
