Weekends in 2021 go ... οnline!
The Museum of Cycladic Art’s popular educational workshops, enjoyed by generations, will also take place online this year! The online weekend workshops organised during the Museum’s closure will continue after the Museum opens, allowing families from around the world to participate.
Each weekend until May, children and parents from around the world can discover the fascinating world of the Museum through storytelling, interactive tours, art workshops, theatre, photography, and music!
The online weekend workshops are made possible with the support of Eurolife FFH, a strategic partner of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
Discovering Geometric Shapes in the Museum’s Figurines*
Children ages 4-6
Sunday, April 18th
In this first online workshop for English-speaking children, we visit the Museum and wander through its spacious rooms. We look at large and small figurines while listening to a story about heroes. We look for our story’s heroes, an elegant princess, a mighty warrior, and an imposing king hidden among them. The story takes us to the end of the world in search of the strongest creature alive, stimulating our imagination.
Playing with figurines and shapes gives us the tools to create. Children transform simple household materials into Cycladic and Cypriot figurines representing heroes and kings.
Parents sit close to their children and watch as their imaginations awaken and their ideas take shape.
*This workshop is only available to English-speaking children living abroad.

The World is Filled with Shapes
Children ages 7-10
Sunday, April 25th
In this online workshop, we create shapes with pieces of paper. We fold them into a three-dimensional world full of curves, lines, and shapes, the world where our story’s hero lives.
But before we become architects, we must become art detectives. We go on a tour of the Museum’s collection of pottery and utensils from the Geometric period. We identify hidden shapes and look for their origins in nature and the world around us. We invite Alexander Calder, a contemporary artist who used geometric shapes to make his sculptures, to inspire us.
This workshop will change how we see the world!
