The Kings of Metal will return to Release Athens on Wednesday, June 22nd 2022! The unwavering loyalty of the Greek Manowarriors brings them back at Plateia Nerou in an unmatched production with a killer setlist full of classics and a special gift for the local fans.
Manowar will present “The Revenge of Odysseus” inspired by Homer’s epic poem and is the sequel of the classic “Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts”, released 30 years ago.
The new song was recorded in Greece with two great local actors, Kostas and Konstantinos Kazakos, narrating the dialogue between Odysseus and his son Telemachus. To honor Homer’s poem, they had Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ), translate the English lyrics to ancient Greek.
The “Crushing The Enemies of Metal” anniversary tour will celebrate over 40 years of the band’s history focusing on six iconic releases:
40th Anniversary of Battle Hymns
35th Anniversary of Fighting The World
30th Anniversary of The Triumph Of Steel
20th Anniversary of Warriors Of The World
15th Anniversary of Gods Of War
10th Anniversary of The Lord Of Steel
Manowar formed in 1980 and transformed the metal scene like few bands ever did and created their legacy with songs that became time-defying anthems.
They’ve been awarded numerous gold and platinum records and they’ve headlined more 35 worldwide tours solidifying their place in the heavy metal scene.
One of the few metal bands that stood the test of time, Rotting Christ are well into the fourth decade of their existence and with more than 2000 shows under their belt, they are still considered one of the most influential groups of their kind.
After thirteen releases, they have explored every aspect of melodic metal, and their sui generis take on the genre made them one of the most successful bands the scene has ever seen. Records like Thy Mighty Contract, Non Serviam, Theogonia, Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers and A Dead Poem are now considered classic albums for every metalhead.
Their co-existence with Manowar on the lineup of the 22nd of June 2022, is a result of mutual respect and admiration between two truly great metal bands.
Rhapsody of Fire formed in 1993 in Trieste and with their debut, the groundbreaking “Legendary Tales” (1997), defined what symphonic power metal is, influenced by classical music orchestrations, movie soundtracks, as well as by bands like Helloween and Blind Guardian. The innovative result, together with the wonderful narration that accompanies their albums, created an irresistible fantasy world that not only metal fans fell in love with.
Their first four releases alone surpassed one million sales and Rhapsody of Fire soon became one the biggest European names in the metal scene, with a series of great records like (Symphony of Enchanted Lands", "Dawn of Victory", "Power of the Dragonflame" etc.) and unforgettable songs that soon became classics (“Flames of Revenge”, “Emerald Sword”, “Queen of the Dark Horizon”, “Reign of Terror” κτλ.).
Rhapsody of Fire will return at Release Athens having just released the 13th album of their career, “Glory of Salvation”, that finds the always consistent veterans at their best, and thrilled fans and music critics rightly so.
